There’s nothing else quite like the Roblox community. It’s remarkable seeing millions and millions of people from around the world come together to inspire, amaze, and delight others with their passion and creativity. We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for helping us achieve another incredible milestone recently. We’re excited to share that we’ve now surpassed one billion hours of engagement each month. That’s no easy feat, and it’s thanks to you all.
We’ve come a long way these past few years. If you’ve been a fan of Roblox since 2013, you may remember a time when our founder and CEO, David Baszucki (a.k.a. Builderman), told BLOXcon attendees that we were hitting 50 million hours of engagement each month. That’s about 10 percent of the time spent playing with physical brick toys around the world. We’re way beyond that now. Today, we’re fast approaching numbers touted by other popular platforms such as YouTube and Netflix. And there’s still plenty more room for us to grow, especially as we head further into 2019.
Our growth can be attributed to three major factors, all of which are powered by the community’s love and dedication for everything Roblox. First, the increasing globalization of Roblox is enabling more and more people from around the world to play together anytime, anywhere, and across any device. Second, we’re focused on continuing to add new features and customization options to allow players to truly create and become anything they can imagine. And lastly, as the developers and creators in our community continue to push the boundaries of what we thought possible, the games on Roblox are becoming more immersive, more social, and more popular than ever, with some titles topping a billion visits. All of these factors are harmonizing to fuel our network effects on a global scale.
