Today, more than 100 countries are celebrating Safer Internet Day—a landmark day of action that aims to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, chiefly among children and young people around the world. Together with our friends at ConnectSafely.org and the UK Safer Internet Centre, we’re proud to play our part in helping to create both a better Roblox for our community, as well as a better internet for everyone.

This year’s Safer Internet Day invites participants to create, connect, and share respect. In the spirit of this central theme, one of our very own community members will take part in ConnectSafely’s Safer Internet Day event in Austin, Texas today! berezaa, the two-time Bloxy Award winner and developer of Miner’s Haven and Azure Mines, will be there to show his support in creating a better, safer online community. We want to inspire everyone on Roblox to participate in some of the many fun activities happening now as part of the celebration. For example, you can find out if you’re an online expert by taking this quiz from the UK Safer Internet Centre or make a pledge to do something positive online by filling out this jigsaw template and sharing it using the hashtag #ItStartsWithUs.

Every day, more and more kids are stretching the limits of their imagination to create and play millions of unique, immersive experiences on Roblox. Whether they’re learning what it’s like to manage a restaurant, surviving a natural disaster with friends, or building their dream theme park, Roblox is all about having fun and letting people enjoy exploring the digital world in a safe, friendly environment. Now’s as good a time as any to review these general Roblox safety tips below and ensure that you’re doing everything you can to have a positive experience on our platform. Share these tips with your friends and check out even more safety advice on our Do’s and Don’ts of Roblox blog post or on our help page!

  • Choose a secure password. Create a password that’s unique to Roblox and uses a combination of letters, numbers, special characters, and capitalization.
  • Enable 2-Step Verification. If you or anyone else tries to log into your account from a new device, they’ll need to enter a unique 6-digit code that’s sent to your email address. You can enable this setting from the Security tab in your Account Settings.
  • Don’t trust anyone offering free Robux or Builders Club memberships. These are scams. Report any messages claiming to give away free Robux or Builders Club by using the Report Abuse feature on Roblox.
  • Don’t share your account or any personal information. Always keep your account information and personal information to yourself at all times on Roblox.

Together, we can all do our part in building a better internet. Spread positivity online and show your support for Safer Internet Day by using the hashtag #SID2018.

Happy Safer Internet Day!
