Over the past several years we have heard countless stories about how kids and young teens across the country were using Roblox to learn how to code and build all sorts of imaginative creations, from theme parks to entire 3D worlds. Today we have a growing community of over 1.9 million talented developers and creators, many of whom came to Roblox knowing very little about coding at first. They stuck with it, and now some of the top creators on Roblox are earning over $1 million a year for their games and experiences! That’s some seriously mind-blowing stuff, and it’s a big reason why we’re so excited about today’s announcement.
Partnering with iD Tech Camps, Roblox is pleased to introduce an all-new course designed to teach kids ages 10-12 essential coding, entrepreneurial, and design skills. The course, Roblox Entrepreneur: Create, Code, and Publish Games, will be offered at iD Tech Camps across the United States and Hong Kong beginning in the summer of 2018. In this course, students will learn how to create 3D worlds and code game mechanics using Roblox Studio and the programming language Lua. They’ll also be able to study games that have been runaway hits and learn how to implement some of the same monetization strategies. The course will be a fun, immersive, and kid-friendly social gaming and learning experience.
