Our mission is simple. We are creating the ultimate virtual universe where you and your friends can let your imagination run wild across a plethora of meticulously detailed environments. We also want to inspire and empower our builders to create an amazing first-rate experience. That’s why we’re always thrilled to offer more tools and materials that will give you the flexibility you need. We recently added another batch of new and exciting smooth terrain materials to broaden the variety of worlds you can explore!
This expansion brings an abundance of beautiful new textures that will greatly enhance the visual quality of games and experiences you can create. Let’s dive in and see how our latest package of high-definition smooth terrain materials look in-game:
Asphalt: First used around 5,000 B.C.
Cobblestone: “Cob” means “rounded lump.”
Ice: Hot water freezes faster than cold water. No one knows why.
Leafy Grass: Not to be confused with “Leaves of Grass” by Walt Whitman.
Limestone: The Great Pyramids at Giza are made of limestone. No aliens involved.
Pavement: This style is called “Herringbone.” Why? Fish reasons.
Salt: Some folks say Roman soldiers were paid in salt. Those people are wrong.
These new materials are currently available on all platforms, including desktop (Windows, OSX), mobile (Android, iOS), and console (Xbox One). Feel free to check out the thread on the Developer Forum for more information by clicking here. A big thank you goes to Arseny “zeuxcg” Kapoulkine for helping to implement this update in Studio!
What do you think? Feel free to send us your feedback or show us how you’ve implemented these materials into your worlds!
