How much wood could a woodchuck chuck? I don’t know, I’m not a woodchuck. However, I am a RO-Lumberjack, and you can be one too! At Defaultio’s “Lumber Tycoon 2” you can experience what it’s like to chop trees, make a fortune and build your empire, all inside of a fun world with places to explore.

Lumber Tycoon 2 has a lot to offer and features hours of gameplay to enjoy. Of course, the first thing you have to do is buy an axe and get chopping! Unfortunately, getting started is one of the only difficulties I had in this game. It’s a little confusing to figure out how the shop works at first. It’s very clever and interactive, you actually have to put what you want to buy on the counter, but it’s not explained clearly and other players can mess with your purchase by putting their items on the counter at the same time. Luckily I was in a server with a lot of helpful users and they helped me out.

After getting your first axe you can get straight to chopping! Trees are all over the game world and different trees are worth more. The mechanic of breaking down the trees is smooth and satisfying. You can break the tree at any part of it to make logs of different sizes to sell or build with. Eventually you’re going to earn enough money to start buying bigger things than an axe, and that’s when the real fun starts…

Buying land and creating your stake in the world was my favorite part about Lumber Tycoon 2. I could play all day just to make enough money to build my dream lumbermill. After you earn enough money you can buy blueprints for various structures. You can then place these in the world and then build them up by putting the wood you’ve collected into them.  It’s a really creative approach to building and the payoff is extremely rewarding. What you construct doesn’t just appear, you have to work for it.

The best part though is that you can experience this all with friends. Defaultio has a feature called “whitelisting” which allows everything you buy and touch to be used by whomever you choose. This means that you and your friends together could build a lumber empire the likes of which the world has never seen! With as much as there is to work towards, this game could have you playing for hours and hours without even realizing it.
