For multiple weeks in March, SXSW, one of the world’s biggest festivals for film, music, and technology, takes over the city of Austin, Texas. Last weekend was the Interactive portion of the festival, which spanned gaming and tech. ROBLOX was there, representing user-generated content on a panel titled, “You Make the Game: UGC and the Next Wave of Play”. To include a variety of perspectives on user-generated content in games, and to make the panel even more awesome, we brought along some friends from our world: Minecraft and Project Spark.
The panel went really well! It was the first time these three companies have been in the same room, and the first time user-generated content has been discussed on this level. We got the chance to talk to both ROBLOX fans, as well as game industry professionals.
If you’d like a taste of the panel, check out this clip, in which Chris “SmoothBlockModel” Hunter and Brian “invisibledoogey” Perry give advice to gamers who want to get into developing and building.
For those of you who want to see the entire discussion, the full, hour-long panel is available on YouTube.
We love talking about ROBLOX because we’re really talking about you guys, the members of our community, and the cool stuff you’re all creating. Keep making ROBLOX awesome and we’ll keep telling the world how great you are.
