There’s Still Time to Enter the LEGO Ideas Building Contest

Archive Community News

LIBC_rcAt the beginning of June, we launched our LEGO Ideas Building Contest, giving the entire community an opportunity to create a ROBLOX-inspired LEGO set and maybe even have it become a real-world, boxed set by way of the LEGO Ideas program. The original announcement of the contest and all the details are available here, but here’s the gist:

  • You build a ROBLOX-themed LEGO set.
  • You submit it to us.
  • The ROBLOX community votes for its favorite sets.
  • The winning entry, chosen by ROBLOX staff, gets submitted to the LEGO Ideas site to possibly become a real LEGO set!

Awesome, right? We’re really excited about it, too. The ROBLOX community has proven it’s full of creativity and talent, so we can’t wait to see what you build. If you haven’t yet entered, you’ve still got a few weeks left to get involved.

We’ve received a lot of great submissions so far, and we’re accepting entries until July 20 at 11:59 pm PT. That’s coming up pretty fast, so if you’re interested in submitting an entry, don’t delay! Start building today and submit your LEGO set on the contest submission page here.

While we (and LEGO Ideas) prefer to see sets created using physical LEGO bricks, we get that acquiring exactly the right bricks can be difficult and costly. If you’re in that situation, you should check out the LEGO Digital Designer. This software lets you design and build a virtual LEGO set, and, best of all, it’s free.

On July 21, all entries will be open to voting, so you, the ROBLOX community, can help us decide which awesome LEGO set will represent ROBLOX on the LEGO Ideas site!

The guidelines

  • The building contest – including both entries and voting – is open to all ROBLOX members.
  • Your project must be ROBLOX-themed.
  • Projects must be created using only existing LEGO bricks (no suggestions for new brick shapes) or the LEGO Digital Designer.
  • To submit your project, you must submit a high-quality photograph and basic information on the contest website.
  • Your entry must meet the community standards of ROBLOX.
  • Your entry must be received by July 20, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
  • Keep your project within a reasonable number of LEGO bricks (i.e., 300 to 500); after all, you want this to be a real LEGO set, not a giant set that no one can afford
  • Create a singular project, not a series of projects.
  • Two especially important qualities for a LEGO set are stability and playability. You know how sometimes you build something with LEGO and it falls apart too easily? Yeah, don’t do that. You want a set that holds together well. And you want a set that’s fun to play with as well as put together. Think about LEGO sets you love, and let them be inspiration.
  • We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow the official rules.

Good luck and happy building!
